For my daughter's birthday this year, we went with a Minnie Mouse theme. She had had a Minnie party before, but for that party, we bought a bag of MM toys and treat bags for the party favors at my local party supply store. While that's a perfectly acceptable way to throw a party, I wanted something different, something special for her this year. So I decided that we would go with vintage red & black Minnie. We had Minnie cupcakes with Mini Oreos for ears and white chocolate chips for the polka dots Minnie's known for. And that's how these favor bags came to be. It was the perfect touch to a wonderful party!
Here's how to make your own.

note: I didn't have my blog at the time I made these, so you'll have to
excuse the missing photos of the beginning of this tutorial. I promise
I'll try to explain it the best I can!)
You'll need:

1 1/2 yards Felt*
2 yards Interfacing* (optional)
2 yards Interfacing* (optional)
1 1/2 yards Tulle*
Sewing machine/serger
Scissors
*The amount of fabric needed will depend on how many you are going to make and how big you want them to be.
For
the shape of the head, use a bowl (or anything circular to your desired
size) and a small cup for the ears. Trace onto a piece of paper for a
pattern, or freestyle it and trace it right on the felt.
It should end up looking something like this.
You'll want to sew (right sides out) to just around the top of the ear, so the treats will fit inside.
Next, cut two slits at the top of the head for the bow and thank you tag(optional.)
(If you are adding a tag, just tie the tag onto the piece between the slits.)
Now, for the tulle, take a large square, about the size of a bandana. Fold in half and sew, then fold in half and sew, so you end up with a square that's roughly 1/4 of your original square. It should look something like this:
Fill the head with the treats for the kiddos (and why not have a few for yourself. You've made it this far!) I used stickers, chocolate hearts, pop rocks, candy bracelets, and the hand clappers.
Take one of your small tulle squares and stuff one end through a slit coming from the back, making sure to get both layers.
A pencil really helps!
Line up the seam on the tulle so it's on the back, and stuff the other end through the other slit.
Then fluff up the bow and voila! You're all done.
